another day, another dollar.

Greetings friend. It’s nice to sit here at home on a Friday Night, watching Bill Maher out of one eye while resting from a long week.
Not too long ago, these would have been the busiest hours of the week for me. I would be pacing around the back of a comedy club in some nameless strip mall in a faceless city, getting pumped up to entertain anywhere from 25 to 250 people for 45 minutes…or until I get the light.
Now I’m home, off the road, with no big plans to head back out there anytime soon.
Quite the opposite actually. Soon I will be a full time writer on the innernets and cyber webs!!
No more thrashing the bushes of North America, telling jokes at bar urchins, no sirry Bob!
Its been pretty kickass to spend these last two-odd years with my wife and baby daughter, getting to know them and myself again. I’ve got to stay with my daughter for her whole first 15 months, everyday with her, watching her grow and learn. I wouldn’t change it for the world. I already have the world and she is it.
Anyhoo.
This writing gig. Crazy cool opportunity. My writing is only going to get better and better, and I’m stoked to get back to the daily creative grind. I used to write a lot of comedy for morning radio and those were the days when I was sharpest. My act was carved out of wood back then!
I used to have the best daily topical jokes written daily by 11AM, while all the other comics woke up hungover looking for a cigarette. Watching the Late Show and the Tonight Show were always a game to me, counting how many bits I had already hit that day.
This new experience will get me back up to that speed again and better, plus I get valuable education in New Media…damn! It’s going to be great.
Have a great weekend, I will.
We’ll talk again soon.
Glad we did this,
John Wessling
